Slow Restore
90 minLong-held, supported postures with bolsters, blankets, and blocks. The slowest class on our schedule.
Hovara is a small yoga studio in Lisbon’s Estrela district. Twelve teachers, forty-two classes a week, and a single rule: we slow everything down so you don’t have to.
From slow restorative work to dynamic vinyasa flows. Every class is taught by a senior teacher with at least 500 hours of training, and every studio has a maximum of sixteen mats.
Long-held, supported postures with bolsters, blankets, and blocks. The slowest class on our schedule.
Breath-paced sequence linking sun salutations, standing poses, and a careful inversion. Our most popular class.
Breath-only sessions. Nadi shodhana, ujjayi, kapalabhati. Run by senior teachers; suited to anyone past their first month.
Floor-based, long passive holds (3–5 minutes per pose). Targets fascia, ligaments, and the parasympathetic nervous system.
Self-led practice through the primary series, with a teacher in the room offering individual hands-on adjustments.
A floor-based meditation with crystal singing bowls, gong, and chimes. Twice a month on Friday evenings.
The Hovara studio occupies the top two floors of a restored Pombaline townhouse on Rua da Boavista. Two practice rooms — sixteen mats max in each — generous changing rooms, hot showers, and a small tea room overlooking the street. We open at 06:30 most days; the last class ends at 21:00. The lights are always lower than you expect.
Every Hovara teacher has at least 500 hours of training and a minimum of three years on the mat with us. Bios, lineages, and personal practices are on the Studio page.

"I’ve been to studios in three cities. Hovara is the only one where I’ve stayed past the first month. The teachers actually watch you."
"Slow Restore on Sunday is the only thing standing between me and the rest of my life. I drive 25 minutes just to make it."
"The Mysore room is run with the kind of quiet authority I’ve only seen in Mysore itself. Sara is the real thing."
